The Science Behind Our Surveys

The numbers speak volumes: 76,000,000 surveys taken, 19,000 licenses issued, cited in more than 14,000 peer-reviewed articles, referenced in over 1,900 randomized clinical trials, more than 120 language translations, and 35 label claims. QualityMetric's health surveys – generic and disease-specific – are the most widely used measures of functional health and well-being in the world. If you are interested in learning more about patient-reported outcomes and how to use this data, QualityMetric is the place to start.

QualityMetric is currently home to 19 highly trained, multidisciplined scientists, beginning with health outcomes thought-leader and QualityMetric founder, John E. Ware, Jr., PhD. Collectively they have decades of experience researching, studying, and developing patient-reported outcomes. This talented and hard-working staff has extensive training in psychometrics, psychology, public health, sociology, Item Response Theory, clinical medicine, epidemiology, economics, and more.

The best way to learn about the science behind our surveys is to peruse QualityMetric's Outcomes Resource Library. This searchable resource includes abstracts from peer-reviewed articles, white papers, case studies, scientific posters, and webinars developed over the years by our team of scientists and Outcomes Insight Consultants.

Our scientists focus primarily on new product development. The National Institutes of Health's Small Business Innovation Research Program funds many of these efforts. Surveys focusing on areas such as asthma, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, headache, and global disease impact are under development at this time. In contrast, our Outcomes Insight Consulting Division focuses primarily on helping clients collect, understand, and apply the results of their outcomes data.
